Quick Overview

If you already own the Satmap Standard Power Bundle, a spare 2700mAh Lithium Polymer battery can really extend the use of your Satmap Active 10 and Active 12 between recharging opportunities.

Product Description

If you have already purchased the Active 10/12 Standard Power Bundle, a spare Lithium Polymer battery can really enhance the duration and flexibility of your Satmap Active 10 or Active 12 device between recharging opportunities.

The Lithium Polymer (LiPol) battery has a capacity of 2700mAh, giving a very long duration, and is ideal for users who prefer a more environmentally friendly option, and the lowest possible running costs. It needs to be charged whilst in your Satmap GPS device, from either the wall charger, car charger or even from a PC/laptop - all via the USB cable.

The standard AA batteries sit in a battery caddy that un-clips and unplugs: into this gap fits the Lithium Polymer rechargeable battery. A full recharge generally takes about 6-8 hours and can last between 12 and 16 hours. Please note : this product is sold as a spare LiPol battery, and as such does not include the Satmap car charger, wall charger or USB cable - all of which are required for the proper recharging (and warranty) of this battery.

You'll probably need one.
Just purchased a Satmap Active 12 and using the unit for geocaching the max life of supplied LiPol battery from a full charge closer to 8 hours and not the 10 - 12 quoted here.
Going to purchase a spare battery in the hope this gives you a whole day use of a great product.

The LiPol battery is the best way to go for the power.
I have been using mine for several years now. First in the 10 and now in the 12. I need another one now as both units will be used.
To get the best out of mine I set the "screen on time" to 1 minute, and keep the brightness down to a usable level. After-all you only need a minute to check your position and if you are changing data, it will stay on longer anyway.

I would not go back to using AA batteries, as long as you remember to fully charge your LiPol before going out, it should last all day.
It may show a full charge when first turned on but the capacity does seem to decline very quickly towards the end.
