The northern map of Lincolnshire covers an area that ranges from the Humber Estuary in the north down to Lincoln. The county is generally low and the wide open spaces make it easy to see why it is famous for its aviation heritage. The rolling chalk of the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty has an undulating landscape of fertile farmland, grassland and abandoned chalk pits, making it an important habitat for rare flora and fauna.
