Latest SatSYNC Software

(10th June 2009) Satmap Systems Ltd is pleased to announce the release of SatSYNC, an application for sharing routes and Points of Interest (Version 1.212)

This software is designed to be installed onto your computer and allows your computer to communicate with your Active 10 via a standard USB connection.

• New graphical display: the new layout of the user interface makes operation clearer and easier.
• GEOCACHING.COM compatible: users can install either .LOC files or .GPX files. The .LOC files contain the latitude and longitude of the cache, and the .GPX files contain the full information offering hints, cache descriptions, terrain, difficulty, logs, etc. This compatibility allows users to fully enjoy the growing international sport of Geocaching.
• Google Earth compatible: so users can download .KML and .KMZ files for road directions, hand-drawn routes and Points of Interest (POIs) from Google Earth onto the Active 10. The .GPX files from the Active 10 can still be uploaded and viewed on Google Earth.
• Microsoft Virtual Earth compatible: so users can download .KML and .GPX files for both hand-drawn routes and POIs from Microsoft Virtual Earth onto the Active 10. The .GPX files from the Active 10 can still be uploaded and viewed on Microsoft Virtual Earth.
• Enhanced Windows XP compatible: this allows users to run SatSYNC in guest accounts on their computers.
• Direct links to Satmap Online Route Planner and Route Share Network: this allows users to access the online web applications rapidly, making it faster and easier to move routes around.
• SD Card transfer of routes and POIs: users can now insert the SD Card straight into their PCs and do the import and export of files (using the Convert buttons) without needing the Active 10. This should make it easier for users to share routes and POIs or access them as it means they don’t have to restart the unit to view any new routes or POIs when the card is inserted into the Active 10. It also makes the transfer of files faster.

In addition to these key changes, there are many minor changes all designed to make the whole operation much more user friendly. Supported Operating Systems: 32-bit editions of Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7

Known issue with 64-bit Windows: SatSYNC will install but it does not detect the Active10. While we work on a solution, please use the Convert buttons and an SD Card directly attached to your computer to transfer routes and POIs.

Installation Instructions:

Please note: if you have an earlier version, delete this from your system and reinstall the new version. It is important to use this new version of SatSYNC in conjunction with the new version of Active 10 software (v1.328) in order to maximise the benefits of these upgrades.

1. Make sure you have permission to install programs on the computer on which you intend to install SatSYNC
2. Check that you have completely exited from previous versions of SatSYNC
3. Download the appropriate zip file from the software page on the Satmap website
4. Once the zip file is on your computer, double-click on it and you should see a new window with two files
5. Double-click on the (.EXE) file
6. Follow the instructions in the installation wizard
7. You may be directed to the Microsoft website to download and install version 3.5 of the .NET framework before proceeding with the installation of SatSYNC. If .NET 3.5 does not work well on your machine, please let us know and contact Microsoft or your computer vendor for a solution

Active 10 Product Upgrade - v1.328

IMPORTANT: this software update can only be used IF your unit has version 1.16 or later already installed. If you are unsure of your installed version number, you can check this by: MAIN MENU > SETTINGS > ABOUT.

Please make sure you have registered your device to receive e-mail notification of updates.

Satmap is pleased to announce the release of software version 1.328 for the Active 10 sports GPS. These features represent both the feedback from the market and the general process of product enhancement. The list below represents those features which are most visible to users, but in addition to these there have been some significant changes aimed at improving the overal efficiency of the unit. Once again, Satmap is releasing this upgrade completely free of charge as part of the ongoing commitment to customer support and continuous improvement.

Changes in version 1.328

Customers will experience the following differences with v1.328 ontop of the changes in v1.3:

• French datum added
• UTM coord entry
• GPX schema validation
• Ascent calculation improved
• Panning speed - Faster at 1:250m

How to install: (for Microsoft Windows users)

Note: Only use this upgrader if your unit is version 1.16 or later. Otherwise, contact us on 0845 873 0101 for how to upgrade. Updating a unit that is less than version 1.16 will result in your unit software being corrupted.

1. Make sure SatSYNC is not running in the background, if it is close it
2. Download using the link below and save to your desktop
3. Run the upgrader executable
4. Plug your device into a USB port then click "Upgrade Now"
5. Remove your device from the USB port and turn it off
6. Turn it on and check to make sure your running version 1.328
