Active 10 Software

The Satmap Active 10 GPS comes pre-loaded with the necessary software for viewing maps, tracking and planning routes, plotting OOIs (see below), customizing POI icons and much more - to enhance your enjoyment of the great outdoors. The current software is version 1.5 and will be included on any units bought in the US after November 2010.

We are continually improving our software and base our updates on valuable customer feedback. When new software is launched, customers will be informed by email, via our website and via SatSYNC (free desktop application for transferring files between the Active 10 and a computer).

The current version of the software contains the following fantastic features:

OOIs (Objects of Interest) – this is the general term used to describe all the different types of features that you can overlay on the maps. These OOIs can contain rich text and images, and be managed in folders. The types of OOI are:

(Points of Interest) - add points to show useful information on the map with customized icons

(Items of Interest) – non geo-referenced information containing rich text and images, such as information on local flora and fauna, or first aid instructions

(Areas of interest) - plot areas of interest to measure an area or mark a boundary

Overlay a grid structure over a map to separate the map into custom sections (particularly useful for treasure hunts, environmental surveys, search and rescue missions, etc)

(Lines of Interest) – add a line to a map to mark a boundary or an alternative route.
